Gifted Hands

HandsEvery Sunday we try to watch a family movie. My husband made the movie choice for today and he gets 8 thumbs up. The movie was “Gifted Hands”. It’s about Ben Carson,African American doctor who overcame many obstacles to succeed. Family, racial and peer pressure where some of the forces that came against him daily.

My husband and I nudged each other throughout the movie. That’s because it reminded us of what we’re going through with our only son. Our son James started off his first grade year in the gifted program. Due to his ability to stay focused he was later placed in a regular first grade class. He has great potential, yet he’s the child we have to follow closely. Once we drop the ball, he makes a run for it.

If your dealing with anything similar to this? It’s a must see for you and your family. Now we have to find one for our 15 year old daughter. Hum? That’ll be our task for next week.

Gifted children are special, but we have to remember that they are children and need, to learn to follow rules, respect other and if there are other children in the home, not made to feel they are better than the other children. It is a balancing act indeed. Great post! Pam
