#NotGoingToBlogher Thankful Thursday

What?  I’m thankful I didn’t attend Blogher?  No.  I would have love to attend.  Since blogging is fairly new to me, I haven’t began to venture out into the deep deep sea of blog conferences.  I was invited by Mom Impact to attend a Not Going to Blogher Chicago Edition on last Wednesday at Theory Chicago in Downtown Chicago area.  Being home with kids, I jump at any excuse to get out the house and socialize with adults & meeting the women behind the blogs.

You may not know this about me….but…I’m really very anti-social.  I’m sure some may call me an introvert.  I always tell people that are close to me, that, I must like you if, I let you get to know me.  So, me being in a crowded room means absolutely NOTHING!  I have to force myself to mingle with people.  Seriously!

I joined Mom Impact a few months ago when I was referred by Kris from LittleTechGirl.com.  Kris is also the mastermind that hosted and co ordinated one of the National Mom’s Nite Out Events that I was able to be apart of here in Chicago.  Mom Impact helps companies and brands connect and understand Mom’s.  Check out Mom Impact and be sure to sign up.

The event took place at Theory Chicago & I had the opportunity to meet some really nice bloggers:

Hosted By:

Hope Betram Founder of Windy City Social, Kim Moldofsky Founder of Mom Impact and blogs at Hormone-colored Days, Sara Fisher from Self-Made Mom

Attendees:

Singer Jan James  was there and sung Happy Birthday to Melissa Pierce, this womens voice was full of soul and flavor!  Javonne of Socialite Dreams, Leyla from Sunday Morning Solilquy, Charlotte of MizChartreuse, Raven of The Writerbabe Series, Amy of Tiramisu Mom, Sidney of Hysterical Randomness and this list can go on and on……..

Anywho!  I had a fabulous time! The chicken at Theory Chicago was so good.  They were like a boneless hotwing.  After a couple hours of mingling we had a chance to preview a movie by Melissa Pierce, Life in Perpetual Beta.  It was an awesome movie, very insightful of  many well known social media, entrepreneurs and successful people that she had a chance to interview.  Also, we had a chance to give to Tutus for Tanner.  Tanner suffers with Duchenne’s Muscular Dystrophy.  We all had the opportunity to give on his behalf.  Read his story.

I had to cut my stay a bit short because me and hubby took advantage of having a babysitter and made it into a date night.  So, he met me downtown and we went to eat at The Cheesecake Factory.  Now you see why I’m thankful for #NotGoingToBlogher.  Did you attend Blogher this year?  Do you attend on going to any other conferences before the year is over?

I’m so glad to hear about her liking her hot locks doll. I can’t wait to hear about your SITS Bloggy Bootcamp. I do plan to go to at least a couple conferences next year.

I am an introvert too. That is until you get to know me (meaning I get comfortable enough around you to actually be myself). I would love to go to any blog conference but I think I would just be the one sitting in thecorner by myself. Yes. I am that dorky :) Sounds like you had a great time anyways, so I am glad that you didnt go! :)

@Sheliza, I would have never thought that. I think people that are anti social, really know hoe to treat people. That’s why I would have never know.

Sounds like it was a great time! I am very anti-social myself (no lie). I don’t attend conferences at all and I have been blogging for almost 4 years. Sad huh?!

@Yoly @ YNR Live, Good way of looking at it. In order to accomplish the goal we have to come out of our shell.

Glad you had a good time. I’m an introvert too. I only like going to conferences if I am a speaker, that way people have to approach me and I’m off the hook to mingle. lame, I know.

Sounds like it was a fun alternative to BlogHer!

I love shmoozing with people at events and will often go all by myself. But I do struggle with coming out of my shell sometimes too.

So glad you have fun. I’m an introvert as well but for the goals I have set for myself will force me to be more outgoing. I went to BlogHer and had a blast getting to know people.

Loved that you made the night a date night!
