The summer is coming to an end and most of the children are back in school. A couple weeks ago I went to purchase school supply and began to think about how the list has changed since I was in school. Here are a few things that were on my kids list that were not on my list when I was growing up.
1.Paper Towel
2.Kleenex (Our teacher supplied Kleenex)
3.No Trapper Keeper (I remember when Trapper Kepper first hit the scene. Don’t know why there banned now.lol)
4.No White out (I do remember using whiteout in school)
5.Erase-able Pens (We had to search high & low for the pens & finally found the at another Wal-Mart. My husband didn’t think they existed. I assume they weren’t on his list growing up either.)
6.Calculator (Not just any ordinary calculator. I don’t even know how to use my daughters calculator. Not to mention I think calculators were forbidden when I was in school.)
7.Flash Drive 2g (Now I’m sure none of us had these in school. Maybe a floppy disk & that was long after highschool.)
Just a few things that were on my kids list that were not in existence when I was growing up or my parents didn’t have to purchase. Was there anything on your child’s list that wasn’t on your list growing up or vice versa?

I had no idea trapper keepers were banned!
My son needed cleaning wipes for school. I think that’s a bit much, but I guess necessary.

why no trapper keepers? those were the bomb! you were not cool if you did not have a trapper keeper. they banned whiteout when I was in HS because the kids were sniffing it to get high

Yep! You see I didn’t even remember the name of the calculator. I wonder how many of those functions do they actually use.
I was thinking of the same thing. My Trapper Keeper had kittens on it! Now they want them to have a separate notebook for every class. Would that calculator be something like a T9 graphing calculator that is outrageously expensive and in my opinion ridiculous for them to expect parents to provide?

lol I forgot how horrible Trapper Keepers were when they first came out. COFFEE!? I think the teacher is sipping on something. Hand sanitizer, yep that’s a new one.
Ha…I know you remember that darn Trapper Keeper when you used to put to much notebook paper in it and the little plastic rings didn’t hold all that well…and then you drop the damn thing and all your papers fall out!!!
My baby’s list had: Hand sanitizer, tissue paper and coffee (huh?) when was the last time pre-k was drinking coffee..I guess it is for art projects.
