Here’s a pic of a faux Igloo my son made. He shoveled the snow off of the grass and mound it into a large pile. I called him inside to explain to him the dangers of the snow as harmless as it appears. I told him that he couldn’t and shouldn’t make it to be able to crawl into and to never bury himself or anybody in the snow. I told him how it would collapse on him and kill him. So this is what he came up with.

It’s not ridiculous. Thaw how children explore however, letting them know the dangers of some of their explorations prevent them from getting hurt.
It is really dangerous to bury yourself in snow especially in a kid..That would be ridiculous..

i remember growing up everything was so easy and we did everything that we tell our kids not to do. I heard about a boy that died building a tunnel in the snow and it collapsed on him. I would have never thought of it if I hadn’t heard the story.
He did a great job for a faux igloo! I actually never though about the safety factor with kids and snow before–we had some enormous forts growing up! I’ll pay more attention to what my own kids are doing, though still no sticking snow for us this year.

Valid points on the safety factor, however… he has a mom there to supervise, protect and dig him out, if necessary!
Brrrrr!

@Judy: he would love te idea but I would love to see him do the work. LOL would you believe I thought today was Wednesday? I’m getting ahead of myself.
Not bad for a faux igloo…maybe he should go to a winter camp with the Eskimos to learn how to properly build an igloo?
