Today I went to the Thrift Store for half off day. I picked up a couple items, paid for them and went back twice for two other things or maybe three.
The first thing was this bell shaped ornamental lantern thingy.
Bell shape looking ornament with a wrought iron hanging piece on top. I knew I would hang it in the garden somewhere on a short shepherd’s hook.
The second or third was this lamp. It was $18.99 regular price before the half off. This was also to be used in the garden.
I kind of got the orb idea in the garden from some iron orbs I saw at Costco a few weeks ago. I passed them up and when I went back the following week they were GONE!!!! I snoozed.
So, when I saw the lamp I knew I was going to place it somewhere amongst my plants.
I removed all of the wiring…. and began to play with it in the garden. So far this is what I came up with.
I took the short Shepherd’s Hook I had and stuck it down the center of the glass ball. Took the bell shaped ornamental lantern thingy and hooked it on the Shepherd’s Hook. It’s placed near the back of the fence in between some Daylillies. I absolutely love it!!!! I’m now on the lookout for more 1970 lamps to add to my garden. LOL The only changes I might make, would be spray painting the base of the lamp or I’m going to let nature take it’s course and age that baby. Also, I will definitely bring this indoors to store for the winter.
What you think of my upcycled 1970′s lamp? It may not be as old as me, but sure looks like that era.
