This time of year can be very stressful if we’re not committed to keeping what matters most first. I know that’s easier said than done. However, if we have a large menu planned for Christmas and the week before we’re cooking nonstop, it can be overwhelming and not enjoyable.
Here’s 3 tips to help balance your cooking before the holiday
1. Break out that trusty crockpot! You know the one you received as a wedding gift 30 years ago. Yeah, that one. Make a generous hearty soup or stew that’ll last your family a couple days.
2. Store bought meal or Simi – homemade. Let me confess now, I’m a food snob! I’m not fond of fast food, don’t purchase store bought macaroni salad etc. So, it’s kind of hard to find good quality Simi – homemade meals when I refuse to try them. But… One day I was at Costco and found some delicious potato soup. The only reason I knew it was good was because they had samples out. Last week I went grocery shopping, there wasn’t potato soup, but there was some Chicken Tortilla. Pair it with a delicious bread to use as a bread bowl or to the side and there’s another easy stress free meal.
3. Lastly, leftovers. Leftovers are a mom’s best friend. Make a large Sunday dinner that will feed your family one extra day. Another option is a meal that can be revamped. Making enough taco meat can be turned it spaghetti the following day with a salad on the side. How’s that for a stalling tactic?
