My craft corner cubby makeover

Oh, the things I’d do for my own craft room.  I have a board on Pinterest with nothing but craft room inspiration and organization ideas.  Having a craft room would either be a blessing or a curse.  More room to hoard craft supplies would be the curse, but if I’m a good mama… it would be a blessing with a spacious organized area and room to do craft projects.

Well, with that being said, my husband came across another awesome find at the goodwill.  He found 3 cubby units. I’ve been wanting an expedit from Ikea, but I haven’t been to Ikea in YEARS!  There’s one not extremely far from us, but far enough that I haven’t had the motivation to visit.

The cubby shelving was white. I picked up some brown paint and began it’s transformation.

If I remember correctly I may have applied 4 coats of paint. I did use a primer, but it was white.  I’m far from an expert painter and hoping I’ll learn some tricks or techniques as I continue to paint furniture pieces.

After the bookshelf was painted I didn’t load it up for a couple days. Probably should have waited a week, but my family room looked like a disaster.

Our family room is a bit dark, but I’m sure you can see how nice it looks.

On the other wall I had my husband hang some shelves that I had and that’s where I’ve put my Cricut cartridges and embellishments on the shelf below. The items underneath I’m looking for some other storage solutions. Everything is contained now, but I’d like a neater look.

Another project off the list for now. What have you been up to?

  2. That’s awesome, Nicole! I wish I loved to craft. I used to do it all the time and once I had William I lost the feel for it. I think your craft cubbies are perfect and such a great way to keep things organized. Enjoy!!
