He studied the watch and later created a clock carved from wood. Benjamin was the son of former slaves, a farmer. mathematician, astronomer, author and land surveyor. There are things we may see. If we use our creativity we can make it more innovative &/or with the economy, how can I make it more affordable? All it takes is an idea & creativity and we to can be the next inventor. What have you seen & thought was a good idea? You may have purchased something from the store and it wasn’t the right color? Some times all it’ll take is a can of spray paint. Look at the clock on the wall, how can you make your time more valuable? Nicole NicoleNicole is a wife, mother of 3, CEO & hairstylist living in Suburban Illinois.
Mae C. Jemison 1956- Mae C. Jemison is an Astronaut and Physician. Reading her biography there were some really cool things I found out. First her and my youngest daughter have the same birthday. She was also a Chicagoan like myself after moving here when she was 3 yrs old. Her family moved here to take advantage of the educational system. I remember oh so well of the day she went into space on the Endeavor, On September 12, 1992. (I was 20 yrs old) Prior to her space venture in 1987, Jemison was the first African American woman ever admitted into the astronaut training program. Jemison believed that woman and other minority groups had a lot to contribute if given the chance to do so. I consider Mae Jemison courageous and an exceptional role model to woman and the minority community. Her perseverance shows us that, if we believe, we can fly.
It’s a new day, a new month & it’s a month to celebrate. February is Black History Month. We sometimes complain about it being the shortest month in the year. However I’m going to take this month and dedicate it to My Heritage. I must first start with myself. Who am I as a Black Woman. I consider myself Black or African American. I don’t consider myself Negro or the “N” word. I was raised by two strong Black women. My Mom & Grandma whom have been very instrumental in my life and me becoming the woman I am today. They are my role models and no super model nor any sports athlete can take the credit for what they have done. My husband and I raise our children to first look at those that have struggled to give them what they need to succeed in life. Hence the word “Role”. So, I hope you delight in my journey during this month. As I reflect on those that have contributed to my life and the African American Community. Also feel free to check out my hair blog. I’m dedicating it to the Black Hair Care Industry this Month. Nicole NicoleNicole [...]
