Ever After High Legacy Viewing Party #StreamTeam

This post is sponsored by Netflix and I’m a member of the Netflix Stream Team

This weekend Jala and I hosted an Ever After High Legacy Party.  We’ve been in planning mode for the last couple weeks and we were so excited to see it all come together so nicely.  We had our menu all planned.  Nothing fancy, but some great snacks the girls could enjoy while they played and chatted.  We decided on having a Legacy party.  The girls focused on what they wanted to be when they grow up.  My goal was to make sure this event was positive and it allowed the girls to use their imagination if they wanted to.  Sticking with the purple theme to represent our little princess guest, Jala and I made some delicious box cupcakes.

Ever After High Legacy Party

I created two different games to play at our Legacy Party.  One of the games was inspired by pin the tail on the donkey.  Hence how I came up with ‘Pin the Crown on the Princess.’ I made it using the frame of a broken mirror, cardstock and some props from the dollar store.

The next game the girls had a chance to play was a Treasure Memory Game.  This idea came from a game we played at my baby shower when I was pregnant with my son.  You place items in a box, the guest look in it and have to write down all the items they remember in the box.

and in the treasure box were items to represent a few of the characters from the show.  In the box was a mirror, “Mirror Mirror on the Wall”.  A teacup and saucer to represent the daughter of the Mad Hatter (Maddie).  A shoe to represent the daughter of Cinderella, Ashlyyn and a tiara to represent them all.

While they sat down to do crafts they had a chance to watch the episodes of Ever After High on Netflix.  also, we received some really nice projects to work on from Netflix.  One was a bookmark, a cootie catcher, a fortune cube and lastly they wrote out their destiny.  Before the girls left they all received the movie caddy gift baskets.  You can watch the tutorial video here on how I made these baskets.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3: Panic attacks & therapy for my soul

Verizon Wireless Mom Voices Disclosure

Panic Attack
Just imagine my face the other day when I’m trying to upload a picture to Instagram and I see this screen.

image
My first initial reaction was to panic, then I got a hold of myself, turned off the phone and removed the battery. After putting the battery back in and turning on the phone, the problem was resolved. Woop! Woop!

Around Me
Last week I went to Indiana the next state over, which is literally a hop, skip and a jump from me. Had a little time to waste and needed to know what was around me…..

image

I installed the around me app and was able to see what was in the nearby area. Found a nice consignment shop and went to see what they had in store. I’ve used this app before on other phones and I usually install it as needed in order to not take up too much space on my phone.

Over Indulging

When I say over indulging… I mean overdosing. I’ve been overdosing on Pinterest. Searching vintage cookware pins, vintage pyrex, corningware and everything else that my grandmother couldn’t pay me to take of hers a year ago.

image

image

See my little modest vintage cookware collection. If anyone asks what will I do with all of that? I’ll reply, “the same thing you do with more than 1 pair of shoes in your closet!” Guess I told them!

Lately everything I see associated with my childhood, my grandmother or mom’s cooking utensils, has so much sentimental value. All the memories flood my mind…and I can’t help reminisce.

One thing I did receive from my grandmother a few years was an afghan from her mother and we’re not sure if she made it or if it was given to her. My great grandmother passed in 1979 and that was when my grandmother inherited the afghan.
image

Now, I have this treasure and it’s possibly older than me or as old as me. Well, I search Pinterest looking for similar patterns hoping to get some history. Nothing yet, but I have seen similar colors. As well as, searching the vintage cookware. I have boards for it.

That’s the FUN I’ve been having with my Samsung Galaxy Note 3 lately. Actually I think it would be considered more of a therapy for my soul. Do you use your smartphone to research?

Thanksgiving Eve Pics Brought To You By The Samsung Galaxy Note 3

Verizon Wireless Mom Voices Disclosure

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you and I hope you’re enjoying time with your family this holiday.

The new camera my husband bought me for an early Christmas gift, I decided to keep it. I’ve been playing around a lot with it in the kitchen and trying to get the hang of it. However, in the meantime…. I enjoy grabbing my phone to take quick, convenient and quality photos. It allows me to upload them to Facebook, Instagram and Twitter quicker. The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is excellent for that. The photos are crisp, editable and I don’t miss out on opportune moments.

Opportune Moments
I spent my day cooking because I enjoy relaxing on the holiday if, I’m not hosting. My mom makes her famous potato salad when she comes over and this stuff should be in someone’s store! Delicious! No matter how hard I try…. I can’t get close to her potato salad.

This morning I made Penne & Cheese with Shrimp & a separate batch for my youngest daughter since she’s allergic to shrimp. Along with that I cooked Mustard Greens, Cornish Hens & Cornbread Dressing.

Cornbread

I knew I had sage in the cabinet

image

But not this much LOL

The dressing turned out fantastic! I cooked a total of 5 Cornish Hens and stuffed 2 at the request of my son.
image

It’s not Thanksgiving Day yet and this is what happened.

image

Remind me to never allow them to taste test. My mother said, “you may need to make more dressing. ”

Can’t wait to enjoy the dressing with some cranberry sauce tomorrow. Which cranberry sauce do you prefer?

image

1. Are you the new school can jellied cranberry sauce?
2. The canned with actual cranberries in it?
3. Or old school, traditional and home made kind of cranberry sauce?

I’m the new school can jellied with not a cranberry to be seen, kinda girl.

He’s Baaaaaaack!
Lastly, you know last year I jumped on the Elf on the Shelf bandwagon.

image

image

Since the tradition is new in our home I decided that Roger will return the night before Thanksgiving.

image

Heeeeerrrrrreeeee’s, ROGER! Jala will be so happy to see him in the morning. Let the elfing foolery begin.

How did you spend your Thanksgiving Eve?

Samsung Galaxy Note 3:My Favorite Black Friday App

Verizon Wireless Mom Voices Disclosure

This week I decided to download a few Black Friday deal apps.  One thing I’m not, I’m not an app hoarder.  I hoard other stuff 😉  I spent a little time on a few apps, deleted those that didn’t interest me and kept the one that did.

image

This one is my fave.  The Black Friday Deal Finder powered by Fat Wallet. As I go about my daily business and a store or item come to mind, I’ll do a quick search.

I can search by store (stores are in alphabetical order) or category.

image

Once I select a store… there’s the option to search by category or view ad. Being the visual person that I am, I like that option best.

image

image

So far I’m only planning to go to Michaels to pick up one thing….or maybe two. I’m so glad I did my research because the item I want will be 60% off. That’s my kind of deal. However, that’s all the Black Friday shopping I’ll be doing. That’s my plan and I’m sticking to it!

Do you plan on doing any Black Friday shopping and if so, what tools or apps will you be using to get the best deal?
