Scripture of the Week : Ephesians 1:5

The past few weeks I have been taking part in an Ephesians Challenge.  This challenge is hosted by a dear sister in Christ of the Perisisters In Christ Community.  Now, this challenge is pushing your girl’s brain to a new level.  It consist of memorizing the ENTIRE BOOK OF EPHESIANS!  What?!  Yes, the entire book.  I’ve been doing my verse of the week meditation, but honestly, no memorization.  I can hollar out a few scriptures when I’m in need, but I can’t tell you where it is exactly.

So, what I’ve been doing is memorizing one scripture per week and as I add on a scripture, I continually refresh on them all.   Another thing I’ve been doing is, incorporating the scriptures into my planner.

So when I create my weekly stickers they are all from the scriptures I’m memorizing.

Also, I use index cards in my little binder and soon I will get a new binder to separate the Ephesians Challenge from my other scriptures that I currently have in this binder.

This week’s scripture is Ephesians 1:5

Eph 1 5 blog

If I didn’t say it before, I’m saying it now!  The book of Ephesians is blessing me.  Meditating on and memorizing the first five scriptures has fed my spirit something plentiful.  When I’m at my lowest and life circumstances has gripped me around my neck, I know, God foreordained my adoption to himself.  Understanding that he has taking care of all of my needs… before they were ever a need.

Feel free to join me in this challenge and I’m sure your heart will be blessed.

Scripture of the Week: What are you hungry for?

When I was a very new believer in Christ, I remember thirsting and hungering for God. In my word, praying in the morning, during the day and late at night. You remember how it was, It’s like meeting that guy who you think is the one. You want to get to know him better. Wanna know what his likes and dislikes are. Trying new recipes so that when he comes over, he smells the aroma of a home cooked meal. You know what I’m talking about.

That’s also the way our relationship should be with God. Seeking His face, wanting to know His likes and dislikes and setting forth to please Him. The bible says,

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled.

matthew 5 6 2

The scripture says when we hunger and thirst to have a right standing relationship with God, we shall be filled in order to live a righteous life. God does not call us to do something that He doesn’t give us what we need to do it. Meditate this week on this scripture and let us ask God to give us the desire to hunger and thirst after Him.

Scripture of The Week: Proverbs 21:9 – Are you a quarrelsome wife?

Lord, the man you gave me made me do it….. is what I’d love to say after trying to make my argument with my husband.  The past few weeks I’ve been working on zipping my lips.  I really need help with zipping my lips and how to respond non argumentative. The main reason meditating and breathing God’s word is a must in my life.

Better to live on a corner of the roof than share a house with a quarrelsome wife.

proverbs 21 9

Do you have trouble zipping your lips or responding appropriately to your spouse?  Let’s work on this together and see the Lord work in our mind’s, heart’s and mouth’s.

Help Mama’s Faith: Scripture of the Week Ephesians 6:11

Let’s put God’s armor on, ladies. There’s nothing that the Lord doesn’t ask us to do without equipping us to do it. Our scripture this week tells us to put on the armor of God. This week before we put on our natural clothes let’s reach for God’s armor. Clothes aren’t only for adornment, but it’s for protection as well. It protects us from the elements of the world. The blistering cold, the scorching heat, wind, sun and the rain. God has equipped us with weapons to stand against Satan when he comes against us with his tricks, lies and schemes.

God’s weapons are strategic, just how we are when we choose clothes based on the season.  Who wears a coat in the heat of summer?  Who wears shorts in the middle of winter?  Wait!  Don’t answer that.  I’m sure many of our teenagers have.  Nevertheless, that’s the wonderful thing about maturing in the word of God.  As we read His word and develop a stronger relationship with Him, we know when Satan is telling a lie and we will have our waste girded with truth.  Tempted by sin and compromise, the breastplate of righteousness is our weapon.

My prayer is that as you start off your week you will clothe yourself in the armor of God.

eph 6 11

Ephesians 6:10-18 (KJV)

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

Help Mama’s Faith: Scripture of The Week Luke 1:37

This week’s scripture will be encouragement  for you If you’re currently going through any impossible situations in your life. Even if  you’re not going through an impossible situation…meditate on this word, save it in your heart for later and share it with someone else.

With God nothing shall be impossible Luke 1 :37

luke 1 37

In Luke chapter one we have two women dealing with impossible situations.  Elizabeth is barren and old and Mary is engaged and a virgin.  Both not capable of having a child are told by the angel Gabriel that they will both conceive.  Elizabeth will conceive John the Baptist by her husband.  Mary will conceive Jesus Christ through the Holy Spirit.

How often in your life have situations seemed futile, unattainable, useless and beyond hopeless?  However, with God it wasn’t impossible. He worked things out on your behalf and you can testify to someone else of His goodness.  Then there are times when we’re like Elizabeth’s husband, Zacharias.  We’ve prayed for God to give us something and when He does, we don’t believe Him.  Because of Zacharias’ unbelief he was mute during Elizabeth’s entire pregnancy.   Not able to talk during the entire pregnancy because of his unbelief.  Another thing we can take from this…when we’re dealing with doubt, hush.  Don’t say a word and be careful who we allow around us.  The last thing we need are naysayers around us,  naying.

We need the response of Mary, ” be it unto me according to thy word.”  When we’re facing the impossible we must seek God’s word on the matter and believe it.    Watch video
