Food Inc.

Today my husband and I sat down and watched Food Inc.  If you haven’t seen this documentary please do!  It’s out on DVD and it’s definitely a MUST SEE!  It documents the process our food goes through to get to our table.  I tell you, things aren’t looking to good.  It showed what the animals are feed and the way they are kept in order to make them grow faster to keep up with the demand.

Our typical menu consist of Fish and Chicken.  Almost forgot to mention Turkey every so often.  So, we thought we were eating healthy since we don’t eat pork or beef.  Ugh!!!!   We’ve tried the Vegetarian diet but my family like meat.  There are weeks when I’ll cook a couple vegetarian dishes but the tend to get bored.  My first thought was…OK…what do we do now?  Seems that there’s an alternative.  They were saying shop our local farms.  This is were they raise the animals to eat grass and they’re not injected with hormones.  As well as our local farmers market.  We’ve been doing good with planting our garden in the summer but in order to get the best results from it, we’re going to have to be more diligent.  Trust me it’s a lot of work.

After watching the movie I got on my hany dandy notebook (lol) and began to do some research.  Found a local farm here in Illinois that raise Beef, Pigs & Chickens.  It is about 3 hrs away but they deliver to some of the nearby cities.  I called and asked if the have a package to purchase chicken only & they do.  This is going to be so new to us but I’m really excited to try it out.  Last week I went grocery shopping so I’ll have to wait until we finish the food we purchased and we’ll begin this new way of life.

Have you seen the movie Food Inc. and do you shop your local markets for grocery?

#HelpMamaBringSexyBackFail

Maturity is the desire of all except fools. Living with myself for nearly 38 yrs, I’m learning some new thinks about myself.

1. I drink when I’m upset or having PreMeditatedSyndrome!
2. I eat when I’m bored.
3. I lack discipline!

To summarize my self analysis. I’m tempted to sell myself for those high price Dove bars & A Mc Donald Caramel Frappe. That bikini I once desired? HA! Wear a jogging suit on our cruise next year!

P.S. If I were to have a subtitle… It would be…#MotivationalMondayFail!

Help! Mama Bring Sexy Back!

Justin Timberlake playing in the background…….with less than a year to go, 40lbs, a stomach and some cellulite that I have to make disappear!  I have some working-out to do.  Hence my title, my mission Help!  Mama Bring Sexy Back!  Wait I forgot one major detail.  My husband and I are planning to go on a cruise next year.  My goal is to be able to wear a bikini or a cute swimming suit.  No more post pregnancy, cover up everything that people should not see, swimming suit.  So, I’m bringing sexy back…………

A few weeks ago I went over to an old friends house for her son’s birthday party.  She began to tell me about some pictures she was looking through of us that were at least 18 years old.  Not to mention she threaten that I’d have to pay her off if I ever decided to run for political office.(lol)  I told her don’t worry I’d write my tell all book first.  She pulled out the pics and one of the girls on the pic was HOT!  I began to get a little envious.  Being the mature woman I am…I decided not to get jealous but appreciate my beauty in my youth.

So, when my husband decided that we need to go on a cruise.  I told him, “how about if I set a goal to be able to get in a bikini before we go?”  He was game and I am too.  It’s time to end some love affairs.  Starbucks, Reese’s, Mc Donald’s Carmel Frappe (my new found love) & all those things that have been holding me back from fitting in a size 10.  I guess that’s cool? I’d even go for a 12!  I’m not trying to get skinny but fit.  When I turn 40 in 2 years, my 40 will be the new 30.

Here is apart of my plan.

1. Walk 1 mile everyday around our neighborhood trail. (I started Saturday. WooHoo!)

2.Workout 30 minutes daily.

3.Eat healthier, only treat myself to a sweet every nooooow and thhhhen……(that was rough)

Many of you have taken on the task of healthier living and I thank you all for the motivation.  This will truly be a journey for me because it’s so hard for me to stay consistent.  If, any of you are taking part in any healthy living or weight loss, leave a comment.  I’d like to hear about it and stop by and support you in your endeavor.

Motivated to breathe without restraint

If there’s no breath in your body, there’s difinatley no motivation. Living with Asthma you will difinately find yourself in situations that will cause you to live in restaints. It’s up to you how those restraints restrict you from doing the things you enjoy or are gifted to do.

My motivation today is my oldest daughter. The reason that I have chosen her to be my motivation….Her ability to be an athlete although she is effected by Asthma. She has not allowed her restraint (Asthma), to stop her from doing something she enjoys. When I was growing up with Asthma, my only medication was an Inhaler. Today, they have medication to control your Asthma as well as to relieve Asthma. The control medication is a medicine taken on a daily basis. The reliever medication is taken when needed.

When we lived in the City, we were fortunate that my daughters school had a class for Asthmatics. In this class they learned; what is Asthma, triggers, control and a plan. This was beneficial because she knows if there’s a trigger, she has to take her medication. Days like today… It’s nice outside, my kids are out playing and when they come inside most likely my son will be the one coughing. Since he hasn’t had the training my daughter had. I have to remind him that it’s time to take his medication or before he goes out to play, he should take his medicine. However, that’s what Mama’s are for.

You don’t have to have Asthma to deal with retraints in your life.  There  could be a job restraint or the lack thereof, financial, education or personal. When we have these restaints in our life, unless we know how to control it… it will control us. Being under the control of any restraint will cause us to loose motivation.   How do you stay motivated?

Just like Asthma you must:

1.What is your restaint?

2.What causes your restraint?

3.What controls your restraint?

4.A plan to overcome your restraints

What areas in you life can you or should you get under control? Wouldn’t you agree that you will be motivated to do some of the things you want to do if it was under control?
