Cleaning Out & Organizing Coat Closet (Spring Cleaning)

Cleaning out and organizing our coat closet is something I have to tend to pretty often.Extra coats end up in here that don’t belong and since it’s not a large space I try to make sure the kids only have the coats in here that they are wearing at the time.

Check out the video below and see how I organize and clean out our coat closet.

Kitchen Hutch Organization

With a small kitchen and not much cabinet space, I love to use furniture in my kitchen for functional organization.Using furniture instead of cabinets add a personal touch as well as allow me to express my decor style.

This hutch I’m sharing with you today, my husband and I found at the Goodwill for $39.99.

Awesome deal! Before painting it it was a dark wood.I didn’t rush to paint it because I like to live with a piece before I paint it.I’m the type that frequently changes what I like, where I like it and how I use the items in my home. So, painting furniture right away only leaves me with another project in the near future when I end up painting it again because I’m sick of the color.

My hutch is used for 3 different purposes

1.Baking Station- all of my baking items are housed in the hutch with the exception of maybe a few seasonings and that’s because those seasonings are used for other cooking needs too. Mixing bowls and of course I have to display my vintage kitchen decor.

2.Lunch prep items- many of the supplies I used to pack up everyone’s lunches are in the hutch. Such as sandwich bags, small containers, plastic silverware, cookie cutters to cut sandwiches etc. There all there in one location easy and accessible.

3.Breakfast foods-Cereals, oatmeal, grits, pancake mix, syrups etc. are kept in the hutch as well. The kids know where to look for the cereal on mornings I don’t make breakfast.

I’ve included a video below so you can take a look and see how I store all of these items in my hutch and pick up some ideas on storing some of your own kitchen supplies.Do you have designated areas in your kitchen to house your baking, lunch prep and breakfast items? If so, where do you store them?

What’s in My Craftsman Tote?

Have something to share with my planner lovers today. Sharing my craftsman tote that I use to tote around all of my daily planner goodies.I’ve had this tote for over 3 years now and it comes in handy.Although many of us have a dedicated craft space, I use the tote to carry my planners and essentials throughout the house. When I have everything strolled all over the bed it’s easy to put everything in here to take it back to my craft space or carry it throuout the house.

If you’re looking for a craft tote to carry around your planners and essentials, you can find this one at Sears or similar ones at any craft store.Recently I had a subscriber say she found hers online at Kmart. Check out the video below to see what I have in my craftsman tote.

3 Tips To Get Organized This Year

Ready to get organized this year? Here’s 3 tips to help

This is the time of year that everyone will be getting organized for the new year.Organizing their homes, life, careers and anything else that we can get in order.Organizing has been an ongoing process for me, daily, weekly, monthly and yearly, I work at organizing my home.

Here are 3 Tips I use when it comes to organizing and I’m sure you can add to this list.

1.Take on a home organization challenge. There are many organization challenges going on right now. The advantages of joining these challenges…

You get expertise from experts that are pros when it comes to organizing their homes.
You don’t have to do the hard work of planning where to begin and how.

2.Use what you have.I’m an advocate for using what you have.We often think that we have to go out and buy everything new in order to get organized, but if we begin with what we have first, we’ll save money while getting organized. After we’ve used up all of our resources then if there’s some organizational items we need we can go out and buy them.

3.Be REALISITIC.Everyone wants to be a minimalist, BUT you may not be a minimalist. You may need to create and stick to a cleaning routine in order to get your house in order.Of course we can all do some purging and changing our hoardish ways.
