Whew! Have you ever wondered which Christmas gift would be your child’s favorite? Did you ever wonder if that gift would cause any damage to your home? Well, I knew little Miss Baby Alive would be my daughter’s fave. I guess the feeding, peeing, changing pampers and all the chatter gave it away. Not to mention, we brought her an extra pair off clothes and she’s been naked since Christmas day. However, I didn’t plan on little Miss Baby Alive taking away from our household budget but, buying extra diapers, baby food and the overuse of toilet tissue, began to put a damper on our household budget. I made sure we brought extras, but the fascination of feeding this baby and seeing her poop, excited my daughter just a bit much. The only way to cut down on the extra expenses were to have a discussion with our daughter on taking motherhood to far. Dialogue: So, my husband and I were like, “stop feeding her!” And little Miss Baby Alive was like, “Mommy I’m hungry.” Then my daughter was like, “but she’s hungry.” so she fed her again and again and again and again. (So, I hid the baby food) Then little [...]

Today was my daughter last AAU Basketball tournament. The event was 30 miles or more from our house & we were going to be there from 7:30 am until 7pm. A very long day! But….WAIT…. That’s not too bad if your just traveling with your teen. Right? We were traveling with the entire crew; my husband, daughter 1, son, daughter 2 & myself. So can you imagine what our day was going to be like? LONG! So, being the brilliant Mama that I am. I Began to create a plan. A plan that made sure that we didn’t lack any essentials while we were away from our abode. Here’s what I packed: Clothes- an extra change of clothes for almost everybody. You never know what might happen! Cooler-Gatorade, water, juice & ice. Smaller Cooler bag- sandwiches & chicken. Yep! Chicken! If you want to know if chicken is good? Eat it cold! If it’s good when it’s cold, that’s some good chicken! Blankets- (3) Barney Blanket, Large blanket & a bedspread. We were going to be out there all day. Baby girl needs a nap! By all means I wasn’t going to let a Basketball game get in the way. Snacks- Snacks [...]

WOOO HOOO! She is doing it all by herself! Today my baby girl has been without a pamper since before 8am this morning. She’s been sitting on the potty all on her own & hasn’t had one accident. Last month we started the potty training thing. Me in all my inconsistencies, I aborted operation potty train. After getting up every morning by 5am, driving 1 1/2 hrs to work(to & from), getting home and having to cook dinner(sheesh, typing it makes me tired). I felt like, just piss in the pamper(sheesh). This morning, my baby wanted to use the potty when she woke up and it’s been victory ever since. When putting her down for her nap, she didn’t want me to put the pamper on. So, I told her, I’d put her underwear on over her pamper, until she woke up. Finally, she agreed(the nerve of her). My baby girl is a Self Made Pottynaire! Yah!!!!!!!!! Way to go Mamacita(that’s my pet name for her)! Soon pamperville will be kissing our money GOOOOD BYE! Now I gotta get her off this “glorified bottle(sippy cup).” Proud Mama of The Self Made Pottynaire Nicole NicoleNicole is a wife, mother of 3, [...]

Now we’re still in the process of potty training our little one. I have to admit last week we aborted the mission. Now we have no choice this child is ready! All day she’s taking off her pamper and flying through the house butt naked. Some days I will like her to keep the pamper on to make it easier for me but, no. She wants to take it off and climb on the couch with no protection. We started off today with a pamper and within a hour she was running through the house flashing us. We had a couple accidents and she went in the pot once witout our help. She said, ” Mommy I pee pee.” Low and behold there it was. We surrounded her hollering, “YEA!!!!!!!!” The rest of the day wasn’t as successful. Needless to say I think I’m the one with the lack of discipline. It’s easier to slap that pamper on and move right along. The a wasting of new pampers is what’s going to keep me right on track. Today alone I threw away about five that weren’t even wet. I’ll get it together or I’ll be all wet if I don’t.
Woo Hoo! Day 2 of Potty Training 101. My big girl did number 1 in the pot. This class is gonna be easier than I thought. When she’s not on the pot, she’s running around in her birthday suit enjoying the fresh air. Only draw back to potty training is Jala waking up 3am this morning. Wide a wake! What does that have to do with potty traing you ask? Well, have you ever noticedwhen your child starts doing something new, they have nightmares. When she started walking she would wake up during the night. Even as she began to talk more she would wake up screaming or talking out load. Last nght when she woke up I put her in the bed with me and her dad. Not one of his favorites at all. When I woke up she had taken off her sleeping clothes and working on her pamper. I’m hoping tonight will be more restful. If we keep this up, sistah girl will be potty trained by next week. Not! We’re enjoying every minute of it so no need to rush. Tomorrow is a new day and we’ll start all over.
I’m back in school. Taking Potty Training 101. Today on my lunch break I went to get my baby some underwear. A pack of twelve and believe me we’re going to need it. A soon as I came home we put on a pair. She made Mommy so proud and did number 2 in the pot. Yah! Jala! Never seen so many people throwing a celebration over poop. The next three encounters weren’t so exciting. She couldn’t seem to control the number 1. On the floor, on the floor again and oops, on the table. Eyk! So tomorrow will be a new day. I really need to pass this class.
How do you know when it’s time to potty train? I’ll tell you when. When your 2yr old climbs up stairs to get a pamper and yells out, “Pampa change! Pampa change!” All this weekend she’s been snatching off her pamper and running around doing the flash dance. I can’t tell you how many pampers were wasted during her weekend self exploitation. With a 15 yr old & a 8 yr old, this is going to be potty training 101. I’m open for suggestions and I think I’m going to need a potty training tutor. This is going to be quit interesting. Nicole NicoleNicole is a wife, mother of 3, CEO & hairstylist living in Suburban Illinois.
