PR Events In Chicago

KOHL Children’s Museum of Greater Chicago

I was invited to visit the Kohl Children’s Museum. All opinions in this post are my own.

Are We There Yet

Recently my family and I were invited to visit the Kohl Children’s Museum here in the Chicagoland area. Now, we set out to go and spend the day there with our youngest daughter and we didn’t let her know where we were going until we got there.Literally she didn’t know where we were going until she read the museum sign and even then she was still a bit confused.

Imagination Run WILD!

The Kohl Children’s Museum is filled with exploratory, imaginative and stimulating activities for children of multiple ages.My only regret is not bringing along one of my daughter’s friends so she can have someone to join in on all the activities they had there for the kids.

The first place Jala explored in this indoor museum was the Adventures in Art center.

Art in Adventures

Located in the art center was a large variety of art supplies and stations in the center where they can create their very own art masterpiece. Jala made a birthday card to send to her big sister in New York.

Our next stop was the SpotHero Car Garage where Jala was able to go through a car wash simulation and play at many other automotive stations.

SpotHero Car Garage

We had only visited two of the centers and we already knew getting her out of this place was going to be a problem. This girl was on 10 and keeping up with her excitement as she was torn between which exhibit to go to next.We visited ever single exhibit in the Kohl Children’s Museum and there were many:

Adventures in Art

All About Me

Baby Nursery

City on the Move

Cooperation Station

Habitat Park

Hands On House

Nature Explorers

Pet Vet

Play Café

Powered by Nature

Ravinia Festival Music Makers

Sheridan’s Books & Crannies

SpotHero Car Garage

Turtle Rock

Water Works

Whole Foods Market

and more…

But I want to share the two places Jala spent most of her time. Like staying long and going back after she visited every exhibit. One of those exhibits was Whole Foods. It was so funny because as she walked pass this pay phone it began to ring and this was her face wondering who was on the other end. LOL

Whole Foods

This kid shopped til she dropped!

The second exhibit that we spent the most time in was the Play Cafe…..She was able to pretend she served us lunch at the cafe, clean and work the register.

If you’re interested in attending the Kohl Children’s Museum it’s located at 2100 Patriot Blvd. Glenview Il., 60026

Although summer is almost over, I think it’s a great place to take the kids before they go back to school to stimulate their minds for the upcoming school year. With exhibits like Sheridan’s Books & Crannies the kids can take a break, sit back and read any of the multiple books they have there. As well as, you can get some ideas on how to create a reading area in your own home before the school year begins.

Sheridan’s Books & Crannies

A couple exhibits that will help encourage your child’s STEM learning this school year is the Science + You Exhibit and the Water Works Exhibit.

Science + You

Water Works

If you and your family visit the Kohl Children’s Museum this year or in the future, you will definitely enjoy it and leave a comment below if you have already visited the museum.

The Big Device Reveal #VZWVoices #MOM

Verizon Wireless Mom Voices Disclosure

Those of you that follow me on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter are already aware of the device we received to review for the next few months. Last week I attended the Verizon Moms Voices Kickoff. I arrived at our meeting place, the Sheraton Hotel Downtown Chicago. Before I knew I could check in early, I sat and looked at this beautiful view.

When all the other bloggers arrived we walked over to Marketing Werks

Blogher Mode, Purse Remorse and a Tourist In My Own City

image

I’m in straight Blogher mode. Between fitting in my clients, getting last minute things and making sure the house is in order, Blogher here I come!

We went shopping last week and I was looking for a Vera Bradley bag to carry my ‘easy to get to’ essentials.  Then I remembered my Franklin Covey bag that I’ve barely used.  It has more than enough pockets and compartments to carry an entire office if I wish.  I’ll look for a Vera Bradley when I’m not feeling pressed and I find the print that I think I can’t live without.

I have a purse in my closet now (many purses) that I may have carried twice. Still sitting in the dust bag and I don’t carry it because I made the wrong choice of color and design.

Nevertheless, I’m so excited about Blogher. I started getting my bags packed and mapping out all the details.  Speaking of mapping out all the details…. I’ve lived in Chicago all my life and when it comes to downtown, I feel like a tourist in my own city.  Of course we haven’t lived in the city for nearly 10 years, but I’m praying I don’t get lost

Jala’s #BarbieIsMoving Experience

If your the mom of young kids or when you kids were younger, did the get the “Are we there yet?” Syndrome?  Well, in some cases it’s the… “Are we going today?” Syndrome.  Whenever I would tell my kids we’re going somewhere Friday, I’m going to hear about it everyday, until that day.  So, I got wise.  I wouldn’t tell them until the day before or that very day.  I told Jala we were going to the Barbie Is Moving Tour, the day before. 😉

When we woke up Sunday morning she knew exactly what was on the agenda.  Get ready and GO! LOL

And she was ready to go.  We arrived and there was a line of parents with daughters waiting to experience Barbie Is Moving.

But before Jala walked the runway we stopped to have her face painted.

Warning: When your child has his or her face painted…. they are not going to want to wash it :-/

After having her face painted she walked the runway.

After walking the runway she enjoyed some other activities.  One of those activities was to design a dress for Barbie.  It was like using carbon ink to imprint the design on a dress and that dress was able to be worn by Barbie.

Coloring the dress

After designing the dress they were also able to color them.

Barbie Mega Bloks

Next, was the Barbie Mega Bloks.  They were able to pick out a few Bloks and were given a kit to take home with additional pieces.

Jala had a great time.  Something I would have definitely enjoyed as a child.  I loved playing with Barbies when I was a kid.
