Fleece sweater and pants comes in many colors and very easy to mix match and layer.

Leggings with sequin embellishments are too cute and I love layering leggings under Jala’s skirts.

Confession: I judged moms that dressed their daughters in tutus. Yes. I. Did! I would wonder what was the purpose, but lately I’ve been thinking they are actually cute. Maybe its ballet class that has me feeling this way.

My birthday gift to me…BlogHer ’13

I’m so there!  When I heard BlogHer will be in Chicago next year….I was pumped!  I had been researching conferences to attend next year and BlogHer was top on my list.  Last week I was ready to purchase my ticket and was worried that me leaving for New York and the ticket registration would clash and fill up really fast.  So, when they postponed it to this week due to the Holiday, I was a bit relieved.  You’re probably thinking….simmer down lady!  The tickets don’t sale out that fast.  Well, hey!  This is my first time and I didn’t know what to expect.

Well, I’m happy to announce on this day… My born day (Birthday) I have purchased my first BlogHer ticket.  If any of you plan on going let me know because I would love to meet you 🙂

#KmartBTS Blogger Event

Last week I attended #KmartBTS Blogger Event at Mastros Restaurant, Downtown Chicago.

All Photos Courtesy of Clifton Henri Photography

They shared information on their layaway program and was willing to have an open dialogue with bloggers of any comments and concerns about Kmart.  We put the kids Christmas gifts on layaway last Christmas, but I dropped the ball for back to school clothes 🙁

Speaking of layaway….Kmart allows you to put clothes on layaway online and pick them up in another state.  So sweet for college students!  Why travel on the road looking like the Beverly Hillbillies when you can pick up the items you need when you arrive.

Since many schools require uniforms, kids accessorize with glitz and glamour when it comes to school supplies and accessories.

hors d’oeuvres and cocktails were served

Makeup artist were there to do our make-up. Would you believe I had my make-up done?

They had signs which I thought were the cutest for us to use when we took some photo shots.  I’m not sure what sign would have actually been perfect for me.  I think “Best Smile” was appropriate for this pic.

Me with Laila and Natasha.  “Basketball Mom” wasn’t available so I went with “Soccer Mom”, close enough.

We had an absolutely great time chatting with each other and learning as well as being reminded of Kmarts layaway plan and school uniforms. I think I’m ready to put Christmas gifts on layaway 🙂

Are you a fan of the layaway plan and did you use it for back to school clothes this year?

I was invited to the Kmart Back to School event.  We received a parting gift however, no monetary compensation was received and all opinions are my own.

The Children’s Place Back To School Fashion

I received an invite to attend The Children’s Place Back To School Fashion Event last Friday and to do some shopping on them. I remember going to The Children’s Place when I was a child and have shopped there from time to time for my kids. So, with Mini Me in tow…..

We headed to the HIP (Harlem Irving Plaza) to indulge in some retail therapy.

We had $100.00 to spend and I’m all about getting the most for my dollar even if it is on the house. With a 4 yr old attempting to pick up everything that glitters this can be a bit of a challenge, but with a little compromise we came out with some cute staple pieces.

With so many children wearing uniforms to school, The Children’s Place took that into consideration when creating this year’s school fashion. With fashionable bling and glitter, The Children’s Place has taken blah to glimmer and boredom to buff.

The sequin jersey cardigan worn with a navy skirt and white shirt adds just enough sparkle to your child’s uniform.

Let’s not forget about shoes.

The crystal bow ballet flats would top off your child’s uniform. We didn’t forget about shoes either. Never could we forget about shoes. Here are the two pair my daughter picked out.

You see that purse she threw in the mix. I told you everything that sparkled received her attention.  Unfortunatley, Jala won’t be starting school this year 🙁  BOOOOOO!!!  Her birthday is after the cut off day so we have another year with her being home.  The Children’s Place sizes go up to a 14 XL and my son has outgrown that size.  With that being said, I took this opportunity to get some more shirts to add to my daughter’s wardrobe along with a couple pair of shoes.

Isn’t this book bag cute?

Have you completed your child/ren back to school shopping and if so, what staple pieces did you or they add this year to their wardrobe?
