Ain’t Ya Mama On A Pancake Box?

Who’s Ya Grandma?!

image

My daughter asks me everytime we make pancakes.

Daughter:(pointing to the picture of Aunt Jemima on the pancake box or syrup) Is this grandma?

Me: Which grandma? (Because she has a grandma & a great grandma)

Daughter: (will say my mom’s whole name)

Me: No.

Daughter: (then she’ll say my grandma’s whole name)

Me: No.

And again today. We’re making pancakes and she gets the syrup out and ask the famous question.

Daughter: Is this my grandma?

Me: That ain’t my mama!

So, to all my childhood friends including myself that loved cracking this joke. “Ain’t ya mama on the pancake box?”

Nope, but I see why you ask because my daughter thinks she looks like her grandmother.

Sailors’ Choice Cocktail Sauce Review & Fish Sticks Recipe

I had the pleasure of reviewing Sailors’ Choice Cocktail Sauce.  Our family has seafood on the menu at least 3 times a week.  Within the past month I had to cut shrimp out of the menu because I found out my youngest daughter had a shrimp allergy.  Although she hasn’t showed any signs of reaction, I wanted to make sure I keep her safe and cut it out all together.  However when the opportunity came for me to review the Sailors’ Choice Cocktail Sauce, I knew I could still serve it when we have fish for dinner.

Fish Sticks are one of my favorite but buying them in a box, they never have any substance!  Who knows what’s really in it.  So I decided to make my own fish sticks to serve with the cocktail sauce.   Here are the reviews I received from my family:

Daughter: “This Fye!”

Son: “Ma, this is good!” I’m not going to tell you about how my daughter and him shared the sauce dish and threatened one another not to double dip.

Husband: Thumbs up

The sauce was delicious!  It’s a great combo to serve for your New Year’s Eve Party, Super Bowl Party or movie night as well.

To purchase your very own Sailors’ Choice Cocktail Sauce go here.  Also, you have to read the story of how Staci and Bill McLauchlan began making this tasty sauce.  This story is so encouraging!  Especially if, you have some goals you plan to accomplish this coming year.  I know I do.  Be on the look out because this week I have another product review, Staci has another creative side that I want to share with you all.

Disclosure: I received Sailors’ Cocktail Sauce for review purposes only.  The opinions are my honest views.

Popcorn Ball Kit

Home for the Holidays

A couple weeks ago I had the opportunity to attend a Blogger event here in Chicago.  The Home for the Holidays event with Expert designer Shawn Rabideau, Fannie May,Winetasting.com, The Popcorn Factory,1800Baskets and a few others are all part of the same company.  Shawn shared some great decorating tips for the holiday and we had a chance to taste all of the products from each company.

Since, I’m an affiliate with The Popcorn Factory, I wanted to share with you how good the popcorn is.   After tasting the variety of different popcorn flavors they had to offer, I had to put the affiliate link on my site. (It taste sooo good and fresh.)  You’ll see a link below to purchase as well.  The kids and I were able to enjoy the Popcorn Ball Kit ($19.99).   The kit comes equipped with all the goodies needed to create your own unique popcorn ball.  Excellent idea to have at a kids party all year around.  Check out the video below & tell me what you think about my blogs theme song.  Hubby wrote and is the artist rapping.

Lastly, I want to give you one holiday tip that I received from Shawn.  Decorate with what you have at home.  During the holiday it’s so tempting to go buy new plates, silverware and decor.  But if we look around the house and think out of the box, we’ll be so surprised of what we have.

Disclosure:  I received Popcorn Ball Kit from The Popcorn Factory.  It was my personal choice to review it.  However, if you click on the affiliate link, I will receive commission.

Click Picture above to purchase Popcorn Ball Kit for gift or party.

Andys Fish Fry Seasoning

Just wanted to share with you one of our family “must have” in the kitchen cabinet. Andy’s Fish seasoning is the “BOMB!” I started using this seasoning 2 years ago while on vacation. Where we went we had to bring our own grocery. With a family of 5, it helps us cut down on the costs. Also we had to make sure we weren’t bringing a whole lot of grocery. Otherwise I would have to bring: cornmeal, flour & seasonings along. So, not only does the Andy’s seasoning help us cut down on cost it’s also Convenient. With a capital “C”.

Any-who, we’ve been fans every since. This is how I use it:
I take a Ziploc bag. Pour in the seasoning then place my fish in the bag, zip it up and shake.
Place my battered fish in very hot cooking oil & fry.

TIP: How do you know when fish is completely done? When it floats.

When fish is done. Take it out hot oil and place on a paper towel so that the oil will drain.

TIP: What is the best oil to use? Oil that has been used at least once. (drain oil after first use and use at least 1 more time. It helps fish to fry really well.)

If you too are a fish lover next time you’re in the grocery store pick up a pack.  You will not be disappointed.  When I checked out the website, I found out that they also have it for chicken and seafood.  That’ll be our next purchase.  We get ours from WalMart (cost approx: $2.50 sorry threw away the receipt) and they only carry the fish seasoning.  I was using this seasoning on my fish, shrimp, chicken & fried green tomatoes.  One bag was able to make my family of 5 both of these meals.

This is Andy's Fish Seasoning on our ChickenIMG_0026-1

Disclosure:  This is the view of my family.  We were not paid by Andy’s nor were we given the product to test.  This is one of our very own favorites.
