Jala’s #BarbieIsMoving Experience

If your the mom of young kids or when you kids were younger, did the get the “Are we there yet?” Syndrome?  Well, in some cases it’s the… “Are we going today?” Syndrome.  Whenever I would tell my kids we’re going somewhere Friday, I’m going to hear about it everyday, until that day.  So, I got wise.  I wouldn’t tell them until the day before or that very day.  I told Jala we were going to the Barbie Is Moving Tour, the day before. 😉

When we woke up Sunday morning she knew exactly what was on the agenda.  Get ready and GO! LOL

And she was ready to go.  We arrived and there was a line of parents with daughters waiting to experience Barbie Is Moving.

But before Jala walked the runway we stopped to have her face painted.

Warning: When your child has his or her face painted…. they are not going to want to wash it :-/

After having her face painted she walked the runway.

After walking the runway she enjoyed some other activities.  One of those activities was to design a dress for Barbie.  It was like using carbon ink to imprint the design on a dress and that dress was able to be worn by Barbie.

After designing the dress they were also able to color them.

Barbie Mega Bloks

Next, was the Barbie Mega Bloks.  They were able to pick out a few Bloks and were given a kit to take home with additional pieces.

Jala had a great time.  Something I would have definitely enjoyed as a child.  I loved playing with Barbies when I was a kid.

Fisher Price Kid Tough Digital Camera Review

One of my daughter’s request for her 3rd Birthday was a camera.  Yep!  A camera!  We take a lot of pictures &  she likes getting in on the action.    We asked her what were some of the things she will like to have for her birthday and a camera was at the top of her wish list.

Yesterday I went out in search for a camera.  Whenever I’m in search for something specific, I go were “specific” is in the name.  Toys R Us!  They had a few to choose from in her age category.  However, the one that caught my attention was the Fisher Price, Kid Tough Digital Camera.  When I saw the word Tough! Tough! Tough! All that I could think about was… Drop! Drop! Drop!  That’s intentional inevitable with any child.

Features:

  • Child Friendly Controls (big buttons)
  • Viewfinder for easy use
  • Stores 1000 + digital images
  • 4x digital zoom
  • 128 MB built in memory
  • Study dual hand grips
  • Photo Editing Software to download
  • Turns of automatically if left on
  • USB cord not included

The large buttons are truly kid friendly!  She learned really fast how to use them & how to scroll through the pictures that she had taken.  We haven’t downloaded the software yet.  Hopefully, this week we’ll get a chance to spend time allowing her to edit some of her works of art.

If, you’re the parent of a 3-7 yr old, what forms of technology has your child been introduced to?  Do you find the items child friendly? If yes, which features were child friendly?  If not, how could it have been improved?

Disclosure:  This item was purchased by us to give to our daughter for her Birthday.

Which art accessories & tools do your children play with on a daily basis?

Mix Pups Mommy Party

My daughter & and were given the opportunity to review the Mix Pups puppies.  Thanks to Mom Select & Jazwares.  We were given enough Mix Pups to host our very own party.  The children that attended the party would receive their very own Mix Pup.

The Child Perspective

When we received the Mix Pups of course my daughter was ecstatic.  They also sent the Fancy Paws Spa.  I allowed her to choose which pup she wanted.  She played with her pup and was also able to take her with her along with the Fancy Paws Day Spa.  They’re small enough to allow them to do that.

However, after playing with her pup for awhile, one of her legs detached ( This was later clarified.  They are suppose to detach in order to mix & match pups legs.)  The minimum age requirement for the Pup is 4 and my daughter will be 3 in a few days.  So, I made sure a paid close attention & assumed she was been a little to rough with the pups.

The Party

We had 6 girls come to the party.  Ranging from 3- 5yrs old.  I had my daughter pass out a Mix Pups Double Pack to each of the girls & allowed them to begin playing with them.  That’s when I notice one of the pets that was still in the box limb was detached.  As the girls began playing with them, their pups also began to lose limbs. (As clarified above they are suppose to detach in order to mix and match pups but not easy to re attach and they fall off without pulling off intentionally)

Moms Perspective:They are cute, my child enjoys playing with them. However, for safety purposes I wouldn’t allow my daughter to have one until I know the problem has been taken care of.  I did contact someone concerning this matter & I was told that they were aware of the problem and it was being resolved. ( I assume the problem of allow them to re attach easier)

Business Prospective: Working in the R & D industry for over 10yrs, I can’t help but to assume that a step was missed somewhere.  Usually when a product is created….it’s tested.   I believe that’s why it’s so important to give your honest opinion.  It saves the company money as well as the consumer.

Possible Solutions:  One attribute of the pet is that she’s pose-able.  The best way to avoid lost of limbs not having detachable parts.

Disclosure: I received Mix Pups to host a party for 10 girls.  No monetary compensation was given.   This is my honest opinion
