Weekend filled with Words

Here are some of the views at The University of Illinois.  I must say my daughter and I had plenty of words….

We left home at 4:30 am in the morning.  Her first game was at 8am and this girl was so excited when she first saw the school.  Hence the photo she almost jumped out the car while it was moving.  This is the U of I’s rec center.  It’s called the ARC

This statue behind her is a man playing football. Sorry I didn’t get his name. I told her this pic was for my dad. He played football in High School.

Here is the outdoor swimming pool. They had an indoor pool too. State of the art!!!!!

It wouldn’t be me if, I didn’t take pics of the landscape.

This is one of the many gyms. My daughter said it was around 7 of them. Every gym had 2 or 3 courts. There were 2 and 3 games being played at the same time.

Here’s my baby girl in action. She’s the second from the left in orange.

We had a great time. This weekend she’s off again. This is really preparing us for when she leaves for college. Wow! Time flies. Are you the mom of an athlete? If so, I know how busy you are at getting them to where the need to go.

University of Illinois…Is an option

I’m spending this weekend with my daughter at the University of Illinois. This place is Magnificent! It’s 2hrs from our home, awesome facility and did I say it was 2hrs from home?

I feel like a teen myself. I didn’t go to college so this is all new for me. With the exception of the low budget MOTEL which has me feeling like something is crawling on me. The smell of cigarette smoke and mold is not a great combo for my Allergies and Asthma. I’m totally aware this month! Otherwise I’m having a ball!

Stay tuned.

Congrats Ladies!!!!  My eldest daughter is getting ready to go down state with her High School Varsity team.  My daughter is a Sophomore, so, this past season she played with the Sophomore team.  When her season was almost up, she was invited by the Varsity coach to play with the Varsity team for the rest of their season.

So now, we’re here.  They have made it to the final FOUR!  She’s so excited & I’m excited for the girls.

This isn’t the first time she’s had the privilege to play in the finals.  Her 8th grade girls team also made it to the final FOUR then to the final TWO.  Sadly they lost( cheating refs). They were devastated! They couldn’t understand how adults could be so unfair.

My big girl is packed and ready to roll.

Stay tuned for the update on their stats.

Ladies! SHOW EM WHAT YA WORKING with!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Proud Mama

Take a mile, Syndrome

Jahmia & Lisa Leslie

Jahmia & Lisa Leslie

Give them an inch & they’ll take a mile!  Is a statement used when someone is taking something for granted.  My point is…..  My oldest daughter plays Highschool Basketball.  If you know anything about Basketball (cause I don’t)?  They add an extra couple inches to the height of the player.  My thought is….. They do it to make the team and the player look good, intimidating & did I say good?

Now my daughter is 6’1.  So I’m sure when she gets to Varsity they’ll list her as 6’3 or 6’4, that’s if she grows an extra inch.  For my daughter this is tight, this is where it’s at!  She likes being tall.  To her advantage that is.  We’re… Oops.  I mean, she knows, that this will make her look good, intimidating & did I say good?

So, I’m going to play…… Let’s call it the Basket Ball “Give them an Inch & I’m Gonna  take a Mile”, game.  Ready, Set…… GO!

I’m 6’0 tall

I wear a size 8 (That was the game in reverse)

My house is clean from top to bottom everyday ( Yeh right)

I cook a home cooked meal everyday

I never yell at the kids

I never use my Mama Remote to pretend that my children are on Mute

You get the picture.  So, when your child tries to take advantage of an already good situation?  Remember they didn’t learn that nasty habit from you.  They learned the “Give them an inch they’ll take a mile” syndrome, from school.  How you like that?  Finally something that didn’t start at home.

Wanna play?  I’d like to hear some of your Taking a mile stories.  Please, Do tell.
