One very important thing I will like to point out. To have a successful hair consultation… Be up front with your stylist. If you had a chemical service last year. Don’t tell your stylist that you’re a VIRGIN. Unless you cut ALL your hair off, last year. The reason why this is so important, is it will save you money, unwanted pain and suffering. During a consultation you should find out: Who:will be doing your hair service. During a consultation you’ll know if that’s the stylist for you. If a consultation isn’t thorough you can be sure that obtaining healthy hair won’t be either. What:services will be done. What retail product will you need to maintain your haircare. Where:will you purchase maintenance products. If color service, do you want high lites only at the top etc. When:how often will you visit your stylist. Weekly, biweekly or every month. Why:are you having this service or why not. How:will this be accomplished. If you’re receiving a relaxer, will it be a virgin relaxer or touch up. Color service, is it a color touch up or is this your first time receiving hair color. How will you maintain your hair at home. In [...]

This week we’ve been talking about preparing your hair for the Winter months. It is very important the you see a professional to analyze your hair and scalp. This is the only way you will get a true analysis of the health of your hair. Today we will discuss breifly about what your hair stylist will ask you and what you should know about your hair. Here are some questions. 1.Do you have any chemicals in your hair? If so, what type? Relaxer and or color? 2.When was the last time you had a chemical service? How often do you receive a chemical service? Who does your chemical service for you? 3.Are you experiencing any shedding, breakage or extreme hair loss? 4.If yes, How long have you been experiencing it. Has anything changed in your life prior to experiencing shedding, breakage or extreme hairloss? 5.These are some important questions to ask yourself. Also have these answers for your stylist, so that her/him will be able to analyze your hair efficiently. Nicolettemedesign NicoleNicole is a wife, mother of 3, CEO & hairstylist living in Suburban Illinois.
Since the weather is changing, I wanted to give you some tips to keep your hair healthy during the winter months. A great way to do this is by having a consultation with your hairstylist. Last week I went to have an oil change on my car. During this season we see commercials about winterizing your vehicle. Whenever I go, not only do I get an oil change but they will also give me recommendations on other services my car may need at that time. Now I’ll admit my mind was made up. I’m getting an oil change and that’s it! I’m sure you may feel that way going to the salon. If you have a professional stylist, she/he will let you know when other haircare services should be done. Consulting with your stylist about your hair is like having a diagnostic test done on your vehicle. If your ends need trimmed, deep conditioning treatment and/or advice on some things you can and should be doing at home to maintain healthy hair. Do you need a hair diagnostic? If so call your stylist for an appointment. If you don’t have a personal stylist, ask a friend to refer you to [...]

Fall is here and Winter is approaching. Here are a few tips to prepare your hair for the Winter months. 1. Keep your hair and scalp clean- Shampoo with a Clarifing Shampoo & follow up with a Moisturizing Shampoo. For African American (once a week) & Caucasian (everyday or every other day) 2. Hair Conditioning Treatments- Follow up with a Moisturing Conditioner. Leave on for 20min. Relaxers(plastic cap under dryer), Color Treated (plastic cap under dryer w/Color Treated Conditioner). 3. Ends Trimmed- If you don’t follow this step, steps 1 & 2 are in vain. Find a licensed professional that you can trust and allow him/her to trim your ends every 6 to 8 weeks. This is crucial! If you follow the above steps you are helping to prevent hair damage that can happen during winter months.
