Lately, I’ve been noticing severe mood swings approaching “that time of the month”. I don’t want anyone to talk to me and I’d love for them to stay about 1,000,000 ft away and their sound volume so low that it reaches -0. I know I’m getting older, I’ll be the big “40″ this year. So, I made a doctor appointment for this week and hopefully I can get some understanding of what’s taking place with my emotional state. In the mean time I’m thinking of preparing a PMS Emergency Kit….break in state of emergency. Here are some of the things I would need in my kit to give me a sense of emotional stability. PMS Emergency Kit 1. Restraint Order against every member in my household. At the first signs of PMS I can lock myself in my bedroom and have absolutely no contact with them until I’ve had some meds or feel better. 2. Chocolate, chocolate, chocolate and more chocolate! 3. Caramel Frappe (preferably a machine but I’ll take what I can get. 4. Ice cream and every topping that can be thought of. 5.Laptop, phone and my iPad (to watch my Netflix) 6. Netflix 7. Money. In case [...]

Don’t get me wrong, I’m grateful. But I was really expecting more for this time of year. Before this batch I fried about 3 green tomatoes for my husband and I. My son says he no longer likes them, I think my oldest daughter can take them or leave them and the youngest will have nothing to do with fried green tomatoes. With my crazy taste buds I only eat tomatoes fried and once they have turned red I don’t want to have anything to do with them unless they’re in spaghetti sauce. However, I’ll be satisfied with one more batch to fry and the rest I’d like to give away. The tomatoes plants are almost as tall as me, but just not as many tomatoes on them as I would like. So I’m praying for an over abundance of tomatoes to share with family and friends. Do you like tomatoes or can you take them or leave them? NicoleNicole is a wife, mother of 3, CEO & hairstylist living in Suburban Illinois.
Today is Grandparents Day. I’m so thankful to have one of the best grandmas a girl could have. My grandma is like: Maya Angelou, Martha Stewart and Suzie Orman all wrapped up in one. She took me on my first trip when I was 6 weeks old. From that point we traveled every year, sometimes twice a year. Whenever I’d come from grandmas house, I’d come home with a bag of goodies. Till this day she sends me goodies. Like last week, she sent me some cleaning rags cut from old tee shirts. They were neatly folded in a bag (something Martha would do). Gatorade for my daughter, yogurt for the baby, and a birthday card for me-me-me-meee. Now, lately i’ve been acting like Martha Stewart. Grandma has this thing she does with grocery bags. She takes plastic Aldi bags and folds them like a towel and she’ll take the ordinary plastic grocery store bag and smooth it out, fold once, then twice and tie it in a knot. The first time I noticed her doing this, was when she came over a few months ago and reorganized under my kitchen sink. Every since then I’ve been folding twice and tieing once. [...]

Today is a day that we will all reflect on that dreadful day. Whenever I hear the words Nine Eleven, my first thoughts are of Firemen. That’s always the first picture that comes to my mind. I remember being home that day with my son, he was nine months then. I had the t.v down low because he was sleeping. I remember seeing them replay it over and over. My thoughts were, what is this? It just didn’t register that this was actually happening . Once realizing that this was true, all I could do was cry. So today I want to take this post and dedicated it to all that lost love ones. All that continue to relive this dreadful day in disbelief. My prayers continue to be with you and your families. Nicole NicoleNicole is a wife, mother of 3, CEO & hairstylist living in Suburban Illinois.
WooHoo! A three day weekend is always something to celebrate. Not only am I celebrating Labor Day but tomorrow is my Birthday too. If I were born tomorrow it would surely be Labor Day (no pun in ten ded). My birthday was the holiday landmark that reminded me that school was starting soon. This year I can’t help but think about all the unemployed Americans that aren’t celebrating. So, not only am I thankful for seeing another birthday, I’m thankful that my husband and I are both employed. So in actuality this Labor Day sound more like and oxymoron to most Americans.
Ok. I have a confession to make. I’m technically nuts. I love facebook, myspace, social networking and blogging. I love my Palm treo, laptops and anything else that will technically make my life easier. It’s so funny because I’m always up late at night on the web. When my husband comes in the room, i’m falling asleep at my laptop. He yells at me turn it off! I’ll say, no! I’m woke! I’m woke! Leave me alone! He’s technically nuts too. Anything electronic he’s gonna get it. He brought my daughter a new IPod the other day. She’s technically nuts too. Barely wiping the sleep out of her eye, she came down stairs this morning with it in her hand. I said, “I see you have a third hand?” All she could do was laugh. Now, what will make my technical life much easier? Picture this: A Franklin Covey Planner that i’m able to cynch with my laptop & Palm Treo. The reason for me having a planner is because I like to see my different events visually. I’m a visual person. So, if you see one please let me know.
I can see the light! My father and grandma are visiting us today. Whenever they come over they help me tackle those “not so fun”, house chores. My father is a professional window washer, so today my wonderful father is cleaning my windows. Yes! When your windows haven’t been cleaned in a while, you forget about how the beauty shines in. My Burberry Bush outside the front window is looking lucious. My husband said, “I didn’t know water could do that!” I guess you can see, we don’t do windows.
Have you ever watched a baby dance? At the very start of the beat they begin to dance. Today my husband was playing some music and my daughter (almost 2) ran to see where it was coming from. Soon as she came to a complete stop, she began to dance. All I could do was smile. I thought about the joy dancing brings. If we began to dance like a baby, we would drop the cares of the world and dance to a different beat. If we danced like a baby we’d find peace in some unpeaceful situations. If we danced like a baby we’d move some body parts we haven’t moved since we were a baby. Just take some time to dance like a baby. Dancing Nicolette NicoleNicole is a wife, mother of 3, CEO & hairstylist living in Suburban Illinois.
