FAMILY FUN Vintage Style – YOU SANK MY BATTLESHIP!

You Sank My Battleship

I promise to not start “a thing” of buying vintage games…. or not! Hubby and I stopped in a thrift store this past week and while I was paying for my little treasure he came across this game and said, “remember this?”

At a little over a couple dollars I said let’s get it. Actually we have began to build on our board games to play with the kids on family night and any other night. We’ve been playing the game since we brought it home and enjoying it so much. I was so excited to see that Jala understood the strategy as well as figuring out where my ships were after she hit it the first time. Before realizing she understood the strategy I told her that I was about to kick her butt.

her response…

You’re boasting.

s’cuse me, miss?

Just finished kicking my son’s butt in a game of Battleship. Haha!!! I better watch out because Jala will say I’m boasting.

Do you remember the game of Battleship and or are you still playing it now?

Marriage & The Family: It’s all fun & games until someone’s chain slips.

Today we headed out to ride our bikes.

The weather was a bit warm, but we were equipped with water to keep us hydrated.

Jala received her bike last year and we haven’t been able to remove the training wheels yet.  Well, my husband removed them, but it was too premature.  He put them back on until she becomes confident with riding it.

When they say no two kids are alike.  I’ll say no three kids are alike.  This child has her own little prissy girly girl attitude that drives her will, or the lack thereof with no training wheels.  My oldest two kids were riding their bikes without training wheels by the age of 6.  Jala, not so.  It’s so cute watching her ride her bike.  Cute and hilarious.

After 30 minutes into our ride… it happened… her chain slipped.

My son fixed it and it slipped again.

Seems like this has been the story of my life.  I remember being younger and going bike riding with my cousins and uncle and it would never fail, someone’s chain would slip. Or they’ll have a slow leak.  Or stripped handlebars.  It was epic.  It’ll set us back an hour or cut our fun short.  Like I said, it’s all fun and games until someone’s chain slips.

How was your bike riding adventures growing up?

Kid’s Movie Night Caddy (Video)

Here are Movie Night Caddies we use to help my kids keep it all together during movie night. Easy and very reasonably priced. All items with the exception of the candy & coffee filters were purchased at Dollar Tree. Candy and coffee filters purchased at Walmart. You will need a Caddy for each child or adult, a cup with lid and straw to prevent spills, popcorn containers and small containers for dipping sauce if needed.

These are great to have for your child’s sleepover or a movie night with your child’s friends.

Last Sunday we went out for brunch and bowling.  Fun and food is a wonderful combination for family.

We haven’t been bowling in awhile, but I think I have a little potential.  Funny thing is that I’m a lefty and I bowl with my right hand.

Of course we had the bumpers up and this child still managed to throw it in the gutter. LOL

Next stop is skating.   My husband says he can’t skate.  He says we’ve been together before, but I don’t remember.  Let’s see how competitive he is then. 🙂
