The Cooking Channel: How to make a Cornbread Bowl (Video)

Does your family love cornbread or bread with their meal? My husband loves bread! Love is actually an understatement.
how to make a cornbread bowl

A few weeks ago I came up with an idea to use my vintage pyrex to create cornbread bowls. Usually, I’ll find bread at the grocery store and make bread bowls when we’re having any kind of soup or chili. However, this time I came up with this idea and wasn’t sure how it was going to work at first, but it was a success.

My New Laundry Routine is…Like a BOSS

It’s been about 3 years since I finally learned how to get a hold of my laundry.  I never liked doing laundry and it would pile up in my laundry room like a big ole mess.  However, I finally got a hold of my laundry by making sure I did laundry on a daily basis.  Of course I had to do more than one load of laundry, maybe 3 at the most, but it kept me in a sense of peace.  A sense, not actual peace, but close enough.

laundry routine like a boss

A few weeks ago I vlogged about how I was going to try something different with my laundry.  After going from room to room putting away laundry I had to think of something different.  A better way.  What I came up with was to do one person’s laundry a day.  That way their laundry would be the focus of the day and I can keep up with organizing their drawers too.  Oftentimes, when I’d go room to room putting away laundry I wouldn’t put things away as neatly as I should because I’d get impatient.

So here’s my new laundry routine.

Laundry Routine

Monday: Husband’s & Dog bedding (every other week)

Tuesday: Mine

Wednesday: Sheets, Blankets & Rugs

Thursday: Husband

Friday: Mine

Saturday: Jala

*I wash towels as needed and that’s usually ever other day.  So, there’s always a small load of towels when I wash them*

It’s been 3 weeks since I started my new routine and I can’t tell you how excited I am on how well it’s working for me.

With my new routine

I’m done with laundry early in the day.

Everything is put away in drawers neatly.

Also, I’m not running from room to room putting away laundry.

What’s your laundry routine schedule?

Organizing Christmas Decor in a Crawlspace

First day the kids are back to school after the holiday and I’m glad about it.  Time to get back into the normal routine and hope it doesn’t take long for us to get back on track.  Today I’d like to share with you the steps I took to organize our Christmas decorations in the crawlspace.  Not only did this help me map out organizing for Christmas, but for other items too.  I really think this will be a huge focus for me this year.  Oftentimes when we have small awkward places to organize we get discouraged or feel we don’t have enough space when we actually do.  Another thing is whenever I search for “Crawlspace Organizing Ideas”, I don’t see any in the search.  Organizing the Attic does show up, but that’s not my focus now.  Of course many of those concepts can be used in the crawlspace as well.

So, the first thing I had to do in order to prep for organizing the Christmas decor…

Evaluate

Evaluate what was going on in my crawlspace now.  Many things and totes needed relocating to another area in the crawlspace and many things need purging.  One thing I knew was that I wanted all of my seasonal decor on one side of the crawlspace in seasonal order.

  1. Christmas Decor
  2. Valentine
  3. Easter
  4. Summer
  5. Fall

Prepare Space

Once I had my game plan laid out I began to move the things around that were already in place.  I also wanted to have all my Christmas decorations in green or red totes.  Crazy me!  In order to get this done I had to rearrange some boxes that were filled with other items, that were in the red and green totes.  This is what took up most of my time, but it paid off in the end.

Execute Plan

After the area was prepared I my husband began to put the totes in the crawlspace.  Completing this task in a few days gave me the motivation to make the crawlspace the focus for this year.  I don’t promise to make this a weekly project, but focusing on it a couple days out of the month will get things done.  There’s a lot of books, shoes and misc items that need purging.  Hope my game plan can help you get a not so accessible space organized and take advantage of the space that you do have.

This year I’ll keep you up to date on my progress and share pictures from time to time.
