Mama Minute: Kid’s Bathroom Caddy

Bathroom Traffic Jams

Since school has been back in session have you had traffic jams in your bathroom/s?Early mornings can be a bit stressful when you have multiple family members getting ready at the same time.Last school year I put together a bathroom caddy for my daughter and we’ve been using it ever since.

kid's bathroom caddy

Why A Bathroom Caddy

Everything in one place- Having a place where Jala can have all the essentials she need in the morning and or at night for bath time.

Easy to carry to bathroom- when the mornings get busy in our main bathroom the caddy makes it easier for my daughter to grab it and go to our other bathroom to wash her face and brush her teeth.

Help child become independent- Wonderful way to help your child become independent.

What Do You Need in the Bathroom Caddy?

The options are endless when it comes to what’s needed in your child’s caddy. However, here’s what we have in Jala’s.

1. A easy to carry caddy- I purchased this one from the thrift store on a half off day making it $1.
2. Towels- I like to keep clean face towels in the caddy and once she uses it she throws it in the laundry room.
3. Toothbrush
4. Toothpaste
5. Toothpaste Squeezer- this little gadget is optional, but I think it’s absolutely great for the kids.We have a hard time squeezing toothpaste out and the squeezer helps by not letting much go to waste.
6. Dental Floss

7. Mouthwash
8. Bodywash
9. Deodorant
10. Lotion

And again the possibilities are endless and depends on the needs and age of each child.

Multiple toothbrushes not caddies

The caddy is also great when you have multiple kids in the same age group. You wouldn’t need multiple caddies, but a tooth brush for each child. Below is a video you can watch with me sharing everything that’s in Jala’s bathroom caddy. Hope you received some ideas and inspiration to create your child their very own bathroom caddy.

Unlikely Animal Friends and Their Symbiotic Relationships: Netflix StreamTeam

I’m a member of the Netflix Stream Team and opinions are my very own.

Unlikely Animal Friends

My youngest daughter Jala has an extreme love for animals. Never thought the word extreme could possibly be an understatement, but when it comes to Jala and animals, she loves them. She thinks ugly animals are cute. Like a possum. UGH Recently, I’d taken a liking to some stray cats frequenting our yard. So, I was feeding them on a daily basis and it gave me such pleasure. However, I thought it was strange that the cats only came at night to eat. I’d seen them a couple times during the day, but it wasn’t often.

One night I hear my son screaming. He runs down stares looking as if he had seen a ghost and could barely tell me what he saw. I followed him upstairs and there you have it. Looking out the back door my daughter Jala saying, “He’s so adorable.  Can we keep him?” The reason the cat food was mostly being eaten at night… the possum was the one coming by to eat the food. That put an end to me feeding stray cats, but if Jala could have her way, we’d still be feeding the possum.

With that being said, our Netflix Pick of the Month of March *drum roll* Unlikely Animal Friends. There’s no surprise that Jala would pick this series. For one she loves watching series type shows and two she’s the one that taught me about symbiotic relationships.

With a world indulging in such evil and hatred, Unlikely Animal Friends is just what’s needed.  You get to see the benefits of diverse relationships with animals as well as, seeing the significance and importance of those relationships.  Many of the episodes are great to discuss with our children on how there are beneficial and non-beneficial relationships in our lives and helping them know the difference.

We just finished up one week of Spring Break here and if your children haven’t had their Spring Break yet, on a chill day, check out Unlikely Animal Friends.  You won’t be disappointed.  Well, while I was browsing through Netflix I noticed that Parenthood is on there.  Loved that show and now I can binge.

Who’s got dibs StreamTeam box contents?

I’m a member of the Netflix Stream Team. Opinions and remarks are my very own.

Arrived home today from the kid’s doctor’s appointment and my son spotted a package at the door. He gives it a shake, “It sounds like legos!” Jala responds, “I got dibs!”

image

To our suprise Netflix sent some goodies and both were able to enjoy them. One 87 pcs set Lego BIONICLE and one 191 pcs Lego Friends Birthday Party set.

image

Jala has been a fan of legos for a few years now and putting them together is now a breeze.  These are probably the only instructions our children follow.

image

My 15 year old swiftly put his together too. He doesn’t play with his when he’s done. Think he just enjoys admiring what he built.

Spontaneous fun kept them busy this afternoon and for Jala well into the evening.  She also turned on the new episodes of Lego Friends on Netflix while she played.

Are your kids or grandkids Lego fans?  You ever stepped on a few of those peices they forgot to put away?

Mama Minute: What’s in my Football Mom Cooler Bag on Practice Days?

This week’s Mama Minute… What’s in my Football Mom Cooler Bag on Practice Days. Taking a cooler bag on practice day is beneficial for many reasons and here’s my top 3 reasons.

1. Saves you money
2. We know what our children are eating.
3. They can replenish right after practice.

I make sure I carry something in the cooler bag for everyone. Practice is a couple ours and in order to make sure I’m not spending money on unnecessary items like, water, snacks and food, I pack something for everyone. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve bought my daughter food out and she doesn’t eat everything. Such a waste.

For mom:
I pack a drink and something to eat. Snack bar, soup yogurt or sandwich.
For the football player:
On practice days I have my son drink water, sandwiches and a couple snacks. He’s always so hungry after practice.
For my daughter:
I pack her a sandwich too, a couple snacks, fruit and a small drink. My goal is to limit our public restroom use EWWWW.

Hope you received some great tips by taking a look in my practice cooler bag. Do you carry a cooler bag to your child’s practice and what’s in it?
