Lila & Eve: Netflix StreamTeam Pick Was So Good I watched It Twice

I’m a happy member of the Netflix Stream Team and the opinions in this post are my very own.

When I realized my favorite girl, Jennifer Lopez was in this movie, I should have known this was going to be one my favorites.   Every movie Jennifer Lopez is in seems to make my Chick Flick list and I’m sure it has a lot to do with her natural acting talent.  After reading the info on the movie:

Two distraught mothers, whose children were gunned down in a drive-by, team up to avenge their deaths after local authorities fail to take action.

I thought what better movie to watch especially with it’s relevancy as the murder rates  in our city continue to climb.  On the other hand it would help give a bit of insight and shed some light on the pain mothers deal with after losing a child to murder.  Living in our world today it’s so easy to become desensitized to the tragedies others are dealing with and unless disaster comes knocking at our front door, we careless who’s door he’s knocking on today.

Disclaimer : after watching the movie I’m not sure If this would be a good movie to watch for a mother mourning the loss of a child.  Needless to say, a love one, friend or neighbor of someone that has loss a child and looking to support them in their loss this is a must see to help you understand the pain of a the one grieving.

Now, I know this wasn’t an episode of How to Get Away With Murder and honestly I’ve never seen a single episode, but the way Viola Davis played her part in this movie right here… she gets an Oscar from me!  I watched this movie once and I was not expecting the outcome. At. All!  I totally spoiled the entire movie for my husband because after watching it, I had to tell him about it and not leave out any details.  As I would not expect, after epic spoiler alert, hubby wanted to watch it with me.  Surprisingly, I saw many details I missed when I watched it the first time.  As well as he was able to help me understand the ending better.

If you’re looking to see a good movie this weekend with girlfriends or your spouse, check out Lila & Eve!  You will not be disappointed one bit and if you really want to watch something.  Do one of my numbers and watch it twice! Bwahaha  Lila & Eve has made my #1 Netflix Movie so far this year.  Now, let’s see what movie with top it.

Fuller House on Netflix – Stream Team

I am a member of the Netflix Stream Team. Opinions are my very own.

Don’t you just love reminiscing on the television shows you watched as a child? I definitely do, and I love when Netflix brings back the flash of the past.

Fuller House aired on Netflix this Friday. I cuddled up with my little New York and let the episodes roll.

Now, the first 5 minutes I spotted Pyrex and before the show was over I spotted three different Pyrex bowls. Alright, alright, I’ll stay focused.

fuller house

If you were around in the old days… 1987ish. You’d remember the television show Full House. Danny Tanner, his brother in law and his friend helps Danny raise his three daughter’s after his wife died in a car accident.

The show has returned and now everyone is grown up and the second generation has all moved back into the Tanner house. Including DJ’s friend and her daughter. Fuller House is a funny show and I enjoyed the episodes I’ve watched so far. I was glad that I sat down to watch them first before watching them with my youngest daughter because there was alot of inappropriate content for kids. I’d definitely advise parents to watch it alone first so that they can make the proper judgement call before watching it with any of your young children.

Although I was disappointed that Fuller House wasn’t a family show, I was able to enjoy plenty  laughs with the exception of the sexual innuendos and some other content I believe, if left out, the show would have received 5 stars from me. My personal opinion is… If, a television show has children under age, there shouldn’t be any sexual content included at all.  So, have you checked out Fuller House yet on Netflix and if so, how do you compare it from the original shows?

January’s Netflix #StreamTeam Picks – October Baby

I’m writing this post because I’m a member of the Netflix StreamTeam however, the opinions are my very own.

What I watched

This month started off with me watching the movie, October Baby. Years ago I read a book which was similar to this very topic, abortion. Based on your views on the topic of abortion, you may be swayed one way or the other.  This month was also the 43rd Anniversary of Roe vs Wade so, I also thought it was appropriate for the month.

In October Baby a young lady, Hannah sets out to find her biological parents and discovers something that would totally shock you. As I said depending on your views on the topic will also be a deciding factor on if tissue will be needed. No matter what our beliefs are on the subject of abortion what we can all take away from this is how much we can find out about ourselves by being willing to take a journey in our past to benefit our future.

What Jala Watched

My youngest daughter Loves NETFLIX!!!! One of the reasons I enjoy it and feel a bit safe as a parent,  is because of the lack of inappropriate commercials. This month she indulged in the episodes of Alpha and Omega and has said she’s moved on to something else, but she can’t remember what that something else is…stay tuned.

Watching

Hubby and I just began the series, Secrets of the Bible.  The first episode was on finding the Ark of The Covenant.  With some things shared on the Ark, I’ve had to revisit the scripture, do an in depth study and I’m going to re-watch the episode again.  There was so much to digest in the research shared on finding the Ark  of the Covenant that I know reading the scriptures and watching again would help me gain more clarity. I can be a bit of a skeptic lol.

So, that’s just a little of what we’ve been watching this month on Netflix.  What have you been watching this month on Netflix?

November Netflix Pick of the Month- My Dad’s a Soccer Mom #NetflixStreamTeam

I’m a member of the Netflix StreamTeam and opinions are my very own.

Hope everyone has recuperated from Thanksgiving dinner. I’m in the process of going through sweet potato pie withdrawal. Just one mo pie. One more.

Nope nine pies weren’t enough.

Anyhow, we had a wonderful time chilling with the family and watching movies. One of our faves was, ” My Dad’s A Soccer Mom.” I’ll admit I had my reservations in the beginning. Starting with the title. Now why does dad have to be a soccer mom? Why can’t he be a soccer dad? Huh? That’s exactly what he was, a soccer dad.

This movie was picked by my daughter Jala. She’s a fan of Skai Jackson and when she saw that she was in the movie, that was her pick. We actually watched the movie twice. Once with my daughter and the second time with the entire family.

Marion Casey (Lester Speight) plays  Lacy’s (Skai Jackson)dad and has recently lost his football contract. Holly Casey, is the wife of Marion and mother of Lacy and after her husband loses his contract she decides to put more time in her Interior Design business that she co owns with her sister.

In the meantime Marion gets a chance to spend more time with his daughter, Lacy and helps her find her passion of soccer.  This was an awesome movie and showed the growth of a relationship between a father a daughter.  Great movie to see over the holiday or the weekend with the family.

September Movie Pick: Catching Faith #Netflix #Streamteam

I’m a member of the Netflix Stream Team and the opinions shared in this article are my own.

Lately, I’ve been scrolling through the Faith & Spirituality category on Netflix, looking for something to watch. I’m not even halfway through the list of movie titles, but I have watched a few in this section.  The last movie I watched was Catching Faith. About a family, The Taylor’s that appear to have it all together. Married, stay at home mom with 2 1/2 kids…. How do you get a half a kids? LOL Anywho, everything looks perfect on the outside, but this christian family are in need of some spiritual growth. And with help from bible study, godly counsel, prayer and redirection, the Taylor family get back on spiritual track.

John & Alexa are the parents of twins.  Personally, John seems to be a great leader for his family.  Alexa appears to be going through a crisis that most of us moms seem to endure when we put our family priorities over our own spiritual and emotional needs.  One of the reasons this concerns me with, Alexa, is because I can definitely relate.  Being a mom we can get lost in the role of motherhood.  Lost and drowned out by the demands of pleasing others and not pleasing God.

Not only is Alexa dealing with her struggles, but her children are facing temptation.  Like every high school kid today, facing much temptation.  Some give in to temptation and others are able to escape it.  Catching Faith is a great movie for those of us looking to help build character and integrity in our children.  Great family movie for movie night.

Which category to do you enjoy watching movies from on Netflix?  Any favorites?
