Marriage and The Family: Sky Zone Indoor Trampoline Park

We went on another summer family adventure…

image

We crossed the state line to go to…

image

Yeah… that’s how we… roll jump

image

We look confident about our jumping skills.

image

I learned quick that 3 kids take a toll on an Ole’ G’s bladder.   30 minutes was enough jumping for me.

My husband and I paid for 30 minutes because we weren’t sure if we could hang like the youngsters.

image

And we paid an hour for the kids.

image

We went to the Sky Zone that was closest to us, which was the Schererville Indiana location.   When we arrived I was so surprised at how clean and well maintained the place was.  I guess I have misconceptions of places that you remove your shoes.  I was expecting the not so sweet smelling fragrance of feet.  Sweaty feet.  But no sweaty feet smell.

I was also impressed with how well monitored the jumping stations were.  The stations had a minimum of one worker monitoring and making sure everyone had their turn and everyone played safe.   If a jumping station was larger there may have been two to three monitoring.

It was a very pleasant experience.  The kids loved it and we did too.  We’re going to make sure we go back before my daughter leaves for school.   Most likely we’ll pay for the maximum time for the kids and maybe 30 minutes -1 hour for us.

Oh, it’s a great place to let the kids blow off some energy.   I also think it’s a great place to take them during the colder months because its an indoor park.

Has your family attended a trampoline park in your area yet? If so, how was your experience?

Marriage and The Family: Brookfield Zoo 2014

I think the last visit we took to the zoo, I was pregnant with my youngest.  Brookfield Zoo was on our schedule for this week’s summertime family outing.

image

Last week I picked up passes from our local library.  The passes covered two people, my husband and I.  So, we only had to pay for my son and daughter.  The forecast said rain all day, but it only rained the night before and on our way there.  The weather was beautiful.  Not too hot and not too cold.

This little fella right here put on a branch swinging show.

You don’t go to the Zoo often, right?  However, Jala was attracted to this.

image

Really?  We can go here anytime.  We had a good time with a lot of walking.  I fell asleep on the way home! And took a nap when we made it home.  I was wore out!

Any summertime fun family outings on your family’s agenda this week?

Summer Homeschool Week Wrap-up ep. 1

We started this week off bike riding.

image

Tuesday we went to the library to get passes for Brookfield Zoo and Jala signed up for the summer reading club.  Picked up 5 books which included 3 to read for the book club.  Today we’re going to finish them up and take them back to the library.  There’s also a reading list and summary form that must be turned in too.

One of my favorites was Ruby Bridges goes to school.  The little brown kindergartner that went to an all white school in 1960.  This book had me all in my emotions.  With Jala just completing kindergarten, there’s no way I would have had the courage to send her in harms way.  It definitely gives me a grateful heart for Ruby Bridges and her parents to put themselves on the frontline for us.

Yesterday we made bubbles.  Honestly, I didn’t follow the bubble making directions.  I had about 2 cups of water and added A LOT of dishwashing liquid to it.  We took 2 drinking straws and threaded a piece of thread through the straws.  Tie the thread in a knot and your straw and thread should make the shape of a square.  Pour bubbles in a large baking sheet. Lay straws in bubble mixture and when you pull it up and blow you have a huge bubble.

We had a really good week. Let’s see what next week has in store. How are you keeping your kids busy this summer.

Flashback Friday: His Penmanship

It’s officially summer here and I ran across some of James’s old penmanship practice sheets.  I was prepping for Jala’s Summer Homeschooling and ran across this.

I can’t believe my only son will be in 8th grade next year.
