Free Find Friday: She tried to jack me for the buffet

This week was a good day at my neighbors curb. Was on my way to get some spray paint and spotted this along with the china cabinet on my neighbors curb who’s relocating to Atlanta.

The sign posted by it said FREE Furniture. I put the car in reverse and got my hubby. He got in the truck and we rolled down the street to load it up. While we’re loading the china cabinet a lady pulls up, hops out her car and tells the previous onwers of this dear furniture that she needs his help. Then she goes and stands by this piece and says that she wants it.

Ummmm I ignored her rude request. Then she refrained her question and asked if I was getting this too and I replied with a resounding YES. Sadly she was 5 minutes late.

Vintage Door: Roadside Find Checked Off My Want List

Come over here you piece of trash and I’ll love you.  Sunday after picking up my son from youth group, I rode by a house with some trash at the curb.  Immediately my dumpster diving eye keened in on this beauty.

Don’t judge a door by it’s former life!

Would you believe this has been on my vintage want list? Yes, it has and as I waited patiently I found it at someone’s curb.  Just like that.  After seeing it at the curb I went home to get my hubby because my son isn’t cool like that and he came back with me to pick it up.

Now, there are so many things I can do with this, but of course I have to choose wisely. I’d love to make a dining room table out of it, but we have a dining room table already and my husband isn’t budging on selling ours. A kitchen island would blow it out the box, but our kitchen isn’t nearly large enough.

While I sit over here and ponder on what to do with it, I’ll keep you in suspense until it’s done.

Do you have anything on your roadside find want list?

Fall 2015 FREE-I-Y Collab Hosted by Dianne at Once Upon A Storage- My Artsy Craft Desk

This week I had the privilege of participating in a Fall FREE-I-Y Collaboration on YouTube hosted by Dianne at Once Upon A Storage. Watch the video below and see how I gave new life to a desk my husband and I found on the roadside.

Trash to Treasure find: Rattan Chest

The excitement I felt when my husband and I found this on our way to the show Monday.

image

Husband:you see that?
Me:I want it.
Husband:what you think?
Me:I SAID I WANT IT!
Husband:what are you going to do with it?
Me:Get it!

There’s a house around the corner for sale and they sat this beauty outside.   At first glance I thought it was similar to my jewelry box, but it’s not.  This chest is taller, rattan (overlay) and there aren’t doors on the side that open.

It’s in mint condition and it looks as if it hasn’t been used much.  For now I have it here in my living room/dining room area.  Considering storing napkin rings or something else.  I move our furniture around A LOT and who knows this can be in someone’s bedroom tomorrow.  This was truly a treasure for ‘me’ to find.

The free Craigslist lamp that wasn’t actually free

I seem to have a thing for Ugly Ducklings. However, they must have swan potential, in my eyes.

A few weeks ago I was strolling through Craigslist when I ran into this rare find. I’m going to attach the video on the expedition my husband and I went on to get it. Hilarious! Which made this free item, not so free.

My first intention was to use it in my salon area, but after getting it home it didn’t seem to fit with the theme. Instead I painted it my daughter’s favorite color, purple and put it in her room.

I had the strangest time spraying this lamp. It was a rainy day and very moist out. Not sure if that was the reason behind it, but eventually it all worked out.

The only thing left to do is replace the light bulbs. One of the bulbs is out and it doesn’t make sense to get one bulb when I’m not sure how long the others will last. Hopefully, I can find them at the home improvement store because they’re not a regular size bulb.

Now time to paint her room the requested purple 🙂
